Companies of One

Part of the reason of building Strackt, is the interest in building a company of one

I've been an entrepreneur for a very substantial part of my life. Even now, where I primarily spend the majority of my working time between several companies, I get to work on projects that are more about finding and building opportunities than they are about putting in the hours.

In the back of my mind, I've been thinking and reading quite a lot about companies of one. The idea of staying small and not focussing on endless growth, is succinctly told by Paul Jarvis in his book Company of One

Even though one of the starting principles for this project is to simplify my life (taking away all the boring server maintenance), I need to remind myself regularly that I need to apply this rule to all aspects of this project. If this project has any chance of surviving, all elements need to be set up in such a way that I can support this project with just me as a resource. Thinking as a company of one helps me in that regard; focus and automate. Focus on the user, automate me.
